Missionaries Kent and Shawna Splawn
Missions involves at least two obediant steps. One is to preach the gospel to all the world, or at least the part of the world near us, and the other is to make disciples of all nations. In order to do that effectively we should...love God with everything we are, and to love everyone around us. You know, that's the same command Jesus gave to all believers. It's just that some of us He asks if we'd like to move countries. We said Yes, and haven't regretted a moment of it. The sheer joy of helping someone of another faith/culture/language/country see Jesus in us, and wanting that same relationship, is simply overwhelming. The frustration of another person who stubbornly resists our best efforts to make them see (re: just loving them, right?) Jesus, while they cling to the tyranny of the familiar, can be simply maddening.
On some days, if our support is low and we struggle to pay the bills, if our kids are being rejected or mocked at school, or we're witnessing to disintersted or hostile people, we want to just come home. On other days, we desperately wish all of you could come share the sheer wonder of this life of trying to obey God, and watching him change people and situations right in front of our very eyes. All of which really just brings fame, honor and thanksgiving to His Name. Which, after all, is why we're here on this earth. So people can worship Him.
Want to know more? Or help us financially? Or visit us and see what God is doing in the U.K.? Please get in touch. There's so much more to serving God than just going to church! We love you all, and are more grateful than we can say for your support and care for us.
